Who the Buddha is?

Let me share with you a story:

Brahmin(non buddhist priest) Dona trailing the Buddha who is walking mindfully from Ukkhatta to Setabya (ancient city in India). The Brahmin is awed by the thousand-spokes-wheel imprint in the Buddha's footprints and becomes extremely curious about it.

At the rest area, the Brahmin approaches the calmly seated Buddha and enquires if He is a god? celestial minstrel?nature spirit?or just a normal plain human being? The Buddha denies categorically He is any of the beings mentioned as He has discarded the very roots of rebirth as any of these beings (or for that matter any other beings as well).

The Buddha likened Himself to a lotus blooming out of the muddy world and is unsoiled by the very nature of this world of rebirth. Thus He has 'Awakened' or attained 'Buddha-state.'

~Derived from Dona Sutta (Anguttara Nikaya)

This is one of my favourite story which describing our Great Teacher=The Buddha.

I still remember vividly, 3 years back in the may, I got this CD's by Messenger Of Dharma in one of the buddhist hymms event "Shower of Petals".The song describing the Dona Sutta and send out the message clearly how the Buddha describes Himself. What is the relationship between Him and His Devotees? It's not Master VS Slave but Great Teacher VS Student.

I am glad that i'm one of the student of my Great teacher- The Buddha.

Would like to share out this great story with you guys in this pious month of May.

Happy Wesak and Happy Buddhist New Year for Year 2555 in Buddhist Calendar^^
