The event was held on 5th till 6th of June at Penang Youth Park-one of a green lungs in Georgetown, I was so grateful that I had the opportunity to join relay this year due to my nursing school who support this event strongly.
What is Relay For Life about?
This event is actually a drive that create an awareness about cancer among the public. It is being launched few month ago before the final event annually and promoting the drive through giving talk, distributing leaflet, hosting an exhibition and get people to involve in Relay For Life.Do you know that? 1 in 7 men and women in Malaysia are now at risk of getting cancer sometime in their life. The forecast is that this will increase to 1 in 3 by about the year 2020. This is a large figure and means we really need to work together to fight cancer.

Before that I had totally no idea with what is Relay For Life about, until the volunteer Ms Poh Lerk Shih came to our college and give some talk about it. Since all my coursemate is joining, I'm absolutely being counted in.
Survivors walk^^
The Day
The venue is crowded with people, everyone is wearing the official T-shirt which is in purple colour every year. The event starts with the survivors walk which followed by all the supporting group walking around the tract which is going to last for 15 hours!!
When reaching the dawn, the atmosphere turns into silence and peace,everyone is preparing for the Luminaria event. Candle light with paper bag is lit along the tract, every single paper bag is written with the wishes from others towards the survivor and the dead one.

Luminaria ceremony..Of course, many other activities is happening on that 2 days continuously. A big thanks to all the sponsors and volunteer who had make this event gone smoothly.
My Silence Thought(for cancer patient):
Cancer is definitely harmful to someone physically. However, It might help someone to gain up somethings such as family relationship, the values of life and etc etc. It's just a point of your view, either to make it an angel/bodhisattva to you or make it a demon/satan for your life.
癌症并不是所谓的绝症,也许它能带给你身体上的困扰.有些人消极地把它当成撒旦恶魔来看待,因为它摧毁了他的一生;也有些人把它当成菩萨来看待,因为它让他学会了什么叫知足,什么叫笑看人生,进而让他更珍惜身边的一切.
